CPO Quick Tip : OpenTX and Parkzone Radian (and similar)

CPO Quick Tip : OpenTX and Parkzone Radian (and similar)

This is a video response to an email I received. I thought it would be helpful to show how I went about approaching the problem, rather than just stating what to do to set it up. This method of analyzing the specific needs would, of course, apply to any setup you have. The specific question here, however, is this:

“I have searched all over the net for this answer
and I can’t…

Raptor E550FBL Electronics Setup – S.Bus RX, TX, and GT5.2 Configuration

Raptor E550FBL Electronics Setup – S.Bus RX, TX, and GT5.2 Configuration

In this video, I take you through the basic setup of the electronics on the Thunder Tiger Raptor E550 FBL. These are the very basics needed to continue the setup process, and they will be refined as we get closer to finishing.

One take-a-way from this is that the GT5.2 FBL controller DID NOT COME PRE-PROGRAMMED from the factory as was advertised by Thunder Tiger. Well…it came pre-programmed, but for a different helicopter. It was programmed…

CPO Taranis How-To : Mod to Reduce Volume Clicks (Rev A)

CPO Taranis How-To : Mod to Reduce Volume Clicks (Rev A)

This is my second Taranis audio mod. This time I am using the information provided by pmackenzie on RCGroups to kill the volume adjust clicking. It works pretty well.

This mod uses a 1uF cap and a 5.6K resistor, and involves a trace cut.

After completion, I am very happy.

Thanks for watching!

Bye!

CPO Taranis How-To : 1000uF Mod to Reduce Audio Buzz (Rev A)

CPO Taranis How-To : 1000uF Mod to Reduce Audio Buzz (Rev A)

In this video, I hope to simplify the instructions for performing the “Reflex1” modification to your Taranis in order to significantly reduce the audio buzz. This is one of several mods I will be performing to the audio circuit. I wanted to do each mod separately and test the results as I go. In this video, I show the results of my baseline testing, and the testing after I completed the mod.  I didn’t come up…

Soldering under a microscope

Been doing a little audio hacking on the Taranis…

Tonight I had an opportunity to do some hacking on the Taranis. I am working on a video on how to perform a few of the audio mods that folks have been doing with the Taranis. This is a Rev A audio daughterboard, and I just added a 1000uF capacitor on the VCC and GND pads.   This is expected to stop some of the audio buzzing that is plaguing the Taranis. Lots of smart…

Basic FrSky Taranis Telemetry : A1 and A2 Voltage and Telemetry Screens

Basic FrSky Taranis Telemetry : A1 and A2 Voltage and Telemetry Screens

In this video, I go over the basics of setting up analog voltage telemetry on the Taranis using OpenTX. I am using a FrSky D8R-II Plus receiver and a FrSky FBVS-01 voltage sensor. I go through the basic setup to use the A1 port for reading internal receiver voltage and using the A2 port for reading my flight battery voltage.

I show how to set the telemetry ranges for A1/A2, how the voltage dividing ratio is…

Installing Unsigned Drivers in Windows 8

Installing Unsigned Drivers in Windows 8

Previously, I uploaded this video on updating KK2.1 firmware in both OSX and Windows operating systems. For the Windows platform, I was using Windows 7.  A few people have contacted me for help with doing this on Windows 8 or 8.1, since they were running into an issue with the unsigned driver.  Here’s the video regarding the KK update, but this issue can come up in a lot of other ways that updating firmware on…

CPO Quick Tip : Using Taranis with Phoenix Flight Simulator

This is just a really quick video to show how simple it is to set up your Taranis for use with a simulator. I am using Phoenix for this video, but the transmitter setup is the same for the others.
