Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be on the receiving end of a wildland fire, moving through the trees, heading right for your home?
Yeah… me neither. Unfortunately, that didn’t prevent me from having to experience that very thing. Yesterday.
Having worked many wildfires years ago when I was a Deputy at the Sheriff’s Office, I have a very healthy respect for the speed at which fire can move. Thankfully, this one was was extinguished before any homes were involved. Our property actually extends well past the fence line, and the fire did make it to our property before the Fire Dept was able to stop it in its tracks. I was ready to walk away from everything if needed. We’re blessed that it didn’t come to that.
Here is a few minutes of how my day went.
